It’s not about the destination...blah blah blah. I know. We’ve all heard it. It’s about enjoying the ride. So why am I having trouble enjoying this? Is it only me? My life is good, but sometimes, I would really rather be doing something else, with someone else or as someone else.

What do we do when the thoughts come up that we find ourselves more than willing to follow? Reasoning or thoughts that try to convince us that we would be better off doing something else. If we go with these ways of thinking, we even create vivid images of that “something else” and they look so much better than what we are currently doing. Yay!  It's the holiday season.  Shopping, parties, dinners, friends, family, ceremonies, customs, traditions, expectations, media, marketing -- and not enough time!  There is so much to do in such a short span of time that, if you don't make some decisions, the holidays will be over and you may not have done what you wanted.

So, first things first.  The holidays usually involve lots of commitments.  Make the most important one first.  Commit to yourself that you will do what it takes to make your holiday enjoyable.  Next, commit to using your time and energy wisely so you don't end up stressed out and burned out.

We are well into the holiday season and nearing one of the most stressful times of the year.  As 2012 approaches, we are not only looking at the end of 2011, but this year the Mayan calendar also ends, speculated by some that it signifies the conclusion of the world as we know it.  I’m not talking doom and gloom here.  After all, just like our Gregorian calendar rolls into a new year, the Mayan’s rolls from one long-count period to another.  However, I do believe that the way the world works is radically shifting.  Everything is changing so rapidly that, even from one day to the next, we cannot count on the same strategy being successful.  And it is only getting more ...

There are no guarantees that the opportunities that you have today will still be there tomorrow. “Now” is the only time to do something that will make a difference.
